Do I need to install any software?

No software installation is required. Our converter works directly in your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) on both desktop and mobile devices.

How long does the conversion take?

Conversion speed depends on your file size and device performance. Since the conversion happens locally, it is usually very fast, often taking just a few seconds for average-sized files.

Can I use this on my mobile phone?

Yes, our website is fully responsive and works on modern smartphones and tablets, allowing you to convert files on the go.

Should I choose MP3, WAV, or FLAC?

For everyday listening and sharing, MP3 is the safest choice — it plays on virtually every device. WAV is uncompressed and best when you need to edit audio in a DAW. FLAC keeps lossless quality at smaller file sizes, ideal for archiving music you ripped from CD. This tool outputs MP3 so your files stay portable; use the comparison below to decide whether converting makes sense for your source.

Audio format comparison
FormatFile sizeQualityBest for
MP3SmallGood to very good (depends on bitrate)Phones, cars, streaming, sharing
WAVVery largeUncompressed / losslessEditing, mastering, recording
FLACLarge (smaller than WAV)LosslessMusic archiving, audiophile libraries
OGGSmallGood at low bitratesGames, web, open-source workflows

Will converting my files reduce audio quality?

MP3 is a lossy format, so some data is discarded to shrink file size. Converting from a lossless source (WAV, FLAC) to MP3 will reduce theoretical quality, though at 192–320 kbps the difference is often hard to hear. Converting between two lossy formats (for example OGG to MP3) can add a small amount of generation loss. We use the LAME encoder with your chosen bitrate so exports stay as faithful as possible to the source.

Is there a file size limit?

No — we do not impose a server-side limit because your files never leave your device. Practical limits depend on your browser and hardware: very large videos (multi-gigabyte) may run slowly or run out of memory on phones or older laptops. For best results with video, we recommend files under about 2 GB on desktop. You can convert as many files as you want, one batch at a time.

What is WebAssembly, and why is local conversion safer?

WebAssembly (Wasm) lets your browser run a full FFmpeg audio engine at near-native speed without installing software. The conversion engine downloads once per session (~30 MB), then runs entirely on your CPU. Because files are read from your disk into browser memory — not sent over the internet — no one on our team (or on the network) can access your media. That is fundamentally different from upload-based converters that temporarily store files on a remote server.

Which MP3 bitrate should I use?

Choose 128 kbps for speech, podcasts, and voice memos where file size matters most. Use 192 kbps for everyday music listening. Pick 256 kbps when you want a higher-quality archive without going to the maximum. Select 320 kbps (our default) for music you care about — it is the highest standard MP3 quality and a good balance before file sizes grow noticeably. Higher bitrate cannot restore detail that was never in the original file.

Can I convert multiple files at once?

Yes. Add several audio or video files in one session, review the list, then convert them together. Files without an audio track are flagged and skipped automatically. When everything finishes, download each MP3 individually or grab them all in one ZIP. Batch conversion runs locally in your browser — no queue, no account, and no per-file fees.
